Well I couldn’t be talking on the blog without mentioning the shoot that started it all!
When Ofe first got in touch with me about the Noire Edit Wedding launch, I literally nearly fell out of my chair with excitement and then proceeded to actually fall out of my chair when she sent me over the mood board! Being a wedding photographer and working in the wedding industry for the past 5 years has meant that I have seen dozens of mood boards and style concepts over the years but this one was absolutely stunning!
Ofe created the Noire Edit to be a wedding directory specifically for black wedding suppliers and is aimed at couples planning their wedding. A lot of people don’t know or didn’t until recently that there is a massive discrepancy in the Wedding industry and just like in our day to day media, we’re not being shown images of beautiful black weddings and with that a lot of black wedding suppliers are often not featured as much as they should be in magazines, online and in print!
Walking into the shoot I really didn’t know what to expect and I hadn’t worked with any of the team before but everyone was so lovely and welcoming. It really struck a chord with me and made me realise that whilst I loved the suppliers and shoots that I’ve been working on in the past during this you was something that made me feel really safe and included and respected which is something that I took away from the shoot with and wanted to bring into Onyx.
After hearing a similar thing from all of the girls it made me realise that a lot of us hadn’t really worked on a shoot before where we all felt so included which was really interesting and also it got me thinking about how I could carry on shooting content and creating a safe space for other black and brown owned businesses.
I can’t wait to watch the Noire Edit grow and I’m super excited to see what comes next, if you’d like more information please click here and to see Ofe’s amazing stationary business you can click here!
